FAQ’s

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is the misalignment of spinal bones which negatively affects the motion of the joints between bones.  These misalignments can put pressure on the nervous system causing nerve interference and sometimes pain. Subluxations also have a negative impact on the muscles surrounding the joints. Subluxation can be caused by physical, chemical, or emotional stressors.

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of applying a specific force in a precise direction to a joint that is subluxated, “locked up”, or not moving properly.  This natural and safe procedure eliminates interference to the nervous system, improves spinal function, and overall health.

Do adjustments hurt?

Most patients report adjustments feel good, or relieving.  Depending on what is causing your original discomfort, you may feel some muscle soreness following treatment.  This usually goes away within 24 hours.

Do infants or children need chiropractic care?

An infant goes through significant spinal trauma in the first years of life.  The birth process itself is very stressful on the infant body, especially the neck.  Falls due to learning to walk also contribute to spinal trauma.  Many health problems that emerge in adulthood can often be prevented by having your children’s spine checked early by a chiropractor.  Colic, ear infections, allergies, asthma, and bedwetting are examples of conditions frequently treated by chiropractors.

Is chiropractic treatment safe during pregnancy?

Yes.  Chiropractic treatment is modified for pregnant women.  Many women find chiropractic alleviates pain associated with the changing dynamics of their bodies during pregnancy.  Certain chiropractic techniques are also used to turn babies in the breach position.
